Sledge Hockey Showcase

Sledge Hockey of Eastern Ontario presents a sledge hockey showcase evening on Friday, January 13, 2012.

Where:                Canadian International Hockey Academy Arena, 8720 County Road 17, Rockland, ON

Your support and attendance would be greatly appreciated. Bring your kids and friends for an inspiring evening!  Not only will you be able to see top level sledge hockey first hand in a new top end facility, but you will be guaranteed an entertaining evening and you will be amazed and motivated by the athleticism, skill and speed of this Paralympic Sport! Here is the schedule for the evening:

• 7:00 pm: Rockland Jr C Team vs Sledge Intermediate Team (SHEO) (two 10 min period)
• 7:30 pm: Bantam PGL minor hockey Team vs Sledge Junior Team (SHEO) (two 10 min period)
• 8h00 pm: Ottawa Sledgehammers vs Montreal Transat – National Sledge Hockey League game. Featuring players who won the gold medal in 2006 Torino Winter Paralympic Games, including current Hockey Canada National Team local player Marc Dorion of Bourget.

Tickets: $5 each –available at the door or in advance; contact SHEO, Mark Gallant, Ginette Piquette, or Rockland Jr C directly to make arrangements to get your tickets. Tickets are also available at Boston Pizza in Rockland. NOTE: Your ticket will also give you a chance to win a SENS jersey at the game.

Proceeds from this event will be donated amongst the four organisations involved (Rockland Jr C, Bantam PGL, SHEO Barbarians & Lasers, Ottawa Sledgehammers) with a portion of the funds raised also going to support a local Charity Fundraiser for Make a Wish Foundation (Prescott-Russell Branch).

Post-game: There will be a get together at Rockland ON Boston Pizza afterwards, where your ticket will give you 10% off your bill that night!

Ottawa’s Sledge Hockey Season Opens

Ottawa, Ontario – Ottawa-based Sledge Hockey of Eastern Ontario Association (SHEO) will hold its first open house, practices and house league games on the September 30th weekend. Many returning and new players are anxious to get on the ice in their sledges and sharpen their skills at the beginning of the hockey season. On October 2nd, we are holding an “Open House” to introduce the sport to new players and have also invited a Midget AAA stand-up hockey team to try playing our sport with our Intermediate players. Ouverture de la saison de hockey sur luge à Ottawa
2011/2012

Ottawa, Ontario – l'association de Hockey sur luge de l’est Ontarien (HLEO), basé à Ottawa, tiendra sa première visite libre (Open House), débutera ses pratiques et ses parties de sa ligue de maison la fin semaine du 30 septembre prochain. Plusieurs joueurs, ceux qui reviennent et ceux qui commencent, sont impatients d'aller sur la glace dans leurs luges et de raffermir leurs habilités au début de la saison de hockey. Le 2 octobre, nous tenons une «visite libre» pour présenter le sport à de nouveaux joueurs et avons également invité une équipe de hockey (debout) Midget AAA à essayer de jouer notre sport avec nos joueurs intermédiaires. Par conséquent, nous invitons les gens sont intéressés à apprendre plus au sujet de devenir impliqués dans ce sport intéressant à venir nous voir et à consulter le site internet du HLEO à : http://www.sheo.ca. SHEO Sledgers on the Rideau Canal Skateway – February 20, 2011

23 February 2011 - Sunday, February 20th, Sledge Hockey of Eastern Ontario (SHEO) – in collaboration with the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), the National Capital Commission (NCC), and Hockey Canada – invited the general public and journalists to play sledge hockey with national team and SHEO players at Pig Island during Winterlude.

Retired Paralympic sledge hockey players Jean Labonté and Hervé Lord, current national sledge hockey “Assistant Captain” Marc Dorion, SHEO players (Nathan, Bryce, Dan, Peter, Danielle, Ben, Donovan and Daniel H.), and  Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) staff were there to demonstrate sledge hockey and celebrate the one year anniversary of Vancouver 2010 during Winterlude in the nation’s capital.

Meanwhile, SHEO’s Intermediate Team, the Ottawa Barbarians, played an exhibition game against the Laval Démons roulants at the Jim Durrell Arena. The Barbarians won 4-3 in overtime. All in all, this was a good Sunday sledge hockey afternoon!

Hockeyeurs sur luge du HLEO sur le canal de Rideau – 20 février 2011

23 février 2011 – Dimanche le 20 février, l’association de Hockey sur luge de l’est Ontarien (HLEO) - en collaboration avec le Comité canadien paralympique (CCP), la Commission de  la capitale nationale (CCN), et Hockey Canada - a invité le grand public et les journalistes à jouer à l'hockey sur luge avec des joueurs de l'équipe nationale et du HLEO à Pig Island pendant le bal de neige.

Les joueurs, à la retraite, de hockey sur luge paralympique Jean Labonté et Hervé Lord, le « capitaine auxiliaire » actuel de l'équipe nationale Marc Dorion, les joueurs de HLEO (Nathan, Bryce, Dan, Peter, Danielle, Ben, Donovan et Daniel H.), et le personnel du Comité canadien paralympique (CCP) étaient là pour démontrer le hockey sur luge et pour célébrer le premier anniversaire de Vancouver 2010 pendant le bal de neige dans la capitale nationale.

Pendant ce temps, l'équipe intermédiaire du HLEO, les Barbarians d'Ottawa, a joué une partie d'exhibition contre les Démons roulants de Laval à l'aréna Jim Durrell. Les Barbarians ont gagné 4-3 durant une période supplémentaire. Somme toute, c'était un bon dimanche après-midi pour jouer au hockey sur luge !
