Starting as early as 3 years old, OCSHIP's Junior//Novice program works to instruct the kids on the finer points of Hockey. Remembering that this is about fun, we work with the basics of sledge hockey. In the beginning the kids will be taught proper picking techniques, stick handling, and turning. As the progress through the program they begin to work on position, puck handling, and passing. The goal of the coaches and instructors is to have the kids learn in a fun atmosphere while still giving the kids a real workout.
Kids stay in the program until they reach an appropriate mix of age and experience. Once they are able to, the kids are moved up to the intermediate level where they begin more advanced hockey skills training.
The Juniors practice every Sunday from 1:30 to 3:30 at the Jim Durrell Arena, on Walkley Rd. just east of Bank St.
